Pax Humana is a holiday in the United Empire of Earth (UEE) held annually on November 8.

History

It originated in the United Nations of Earth, when on November 8, 2380, representatives of the various armed forces of the world marched from different points of New York City, converging as one around the Senate building, in a show of unity and solidarity.[1] Laurel wreaths were distributed to all the soldiers, who made an oath that is still used today to swear-in new recruits to the armed forces of the UEE.[2] Ironically, less than two weeks later a mutiny of dissident naval crewmen on a warship called the Stanley would kickstart the Unification War.[3]

Traditions

Today, it is commemorated by similar marches by the different branches of the armed forces: the Army, Navy, and Marines.[1] Across the Empire, people celebrate the day volunteering with charities or planning special events, in the spirit of service.[2]
