In 2014 Star Citizen collaborated with Warhorse Studios, makers of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, in an exchange of technology and knowledge, regarding layering, in particular enhancements to the attachment system in CryEngine.[2][3][4] CIG had stopped using that technology and was working on its own solution as of 2016.[5]

Cloud Imperium Games Starcloth technology was initially unveiled at CitizenCon 2022.[6]
